So fairy lights are upon us and the glorious autumnal colours are fast becoming sparse, we can't help get a little excited at the prospect of December and all things Christmas! We can’t however let November pass without acknowledging the remembrance of our brave men, women and animals that lost their lives to give us the freedom we have today, so many fitting tributes but by far the most moving was led by the film director Danny Boyle, it was a stunning and haunting tribute to always remember no matter what your age, religion, where you’re from, wars that have been fought and continue to be fought, lest we forget.

We had the displeasure of a very soggy trip to our Sandbanks project in the most horrific storm and poor Harry was none impressed with his day trip and lack of beach walk as promised #lifeofastudiodog

November has been insanely busy getting our clients moved into their house in time for Thanks Giving, this is how projects look with 48 hours to go, a huge testament to my incredible team for the long hours that go into installs to get the house looking beautiful, here are a few photos (not quite finished) to tease the taste buds. We will miss working with these dream clients and builders!

We love it when clients ask us to dress their christmas trees too, we fully immerse ourselves and take the shopping VERY seriously and always followed by a team meeting afterwards ;-) and also a rare view of our founder Rebecca, she likes to keep her profile low but caught in the act shopping in Liberty's!

As ever on a final note, we’re still pushing to get Lucy’s Law passed in Wales, all signs are positive that the Welsh Assembly are taking the issue of puppy farming seriously thanks to the incredible efforts by Marc Abraham who succeeded in getting Lucy’s Law passed in England. It’s with this momentum that Eileen Jones and Linda & Sue from CARIAD are with huge effort continuing this fight in Wales, let’s all get behind them and make sure in 2019 no more dogs are subjected to unimaginable suffering like so many thousands have been, lets take this all the way - please take a second to click here and show your support. #lucyslaw

A whole hearted thanks!

October you came and you went but we enjoyed you, Autumn you have been stunning!

We attended our final International Design Excellence Awards at the beautiful Dorchester Hotel where we were shortlisted for two awards amongst over 40 countries - sadly we didn’t win but we were so proud to be considered amongst such amazing talent.

I had the absolute pleasure of staying in Tiger Lodge at Port Lymphe which was just magical, both being so up close and personal with the magnificant Tigers but also learning so much about the incredible conservation work being carried out by the Aspinal Foundation, I urge you to visit if only for a day!

We’ve been incredibly lucky to be working with repeat clients on their breathtaking Grade 1 house. Furniture is starting to arrive on our stunning Georgian Townhouse in Chichester and we may have received a large order from Porta Romana!!!! It’s very much 5th gear now for a mid November client move in!

Finally you were all so instrumental in supporting Lucy’s Law in England and supporting PupAid, I urge you once more to try and implement Lucy’s Law in Wales the heart of where these horrific puppy farms flourish to the misery of the breeding bitches and poor puppies who have the worst start in life, please follow this link and sign to help end this misery.

A truly personal thank you!

What’s not to love about Autumnal September - the daily art show of changing colours is so inspiring! September has been an incredible month for us, we've had a lot of fun and we are still beaming from ear to ear winning an International Design and Architecture Award for our Georgian Bedroom, a real evening of celebration and watching some of our incredible design friends and suppliers also take home awards, huge thanks to Design et al and the team and to all the entries from over 35 countries, we're a little bit proud to say the least!

This month we have seen radiators and carpets be installed into our other Georgian Townhouse which is exciting and we're midway through the kitchen install. We've had a few hairy moments with hot tubs being craned over listed walls and multiple full moons turning Harry a little crazy, although maybe he's still a little star struck having met and being held by Ricky Gervais at the incredible Pup Aid event in Primrose Hill! I even wore a dress and had my photo taken!!!

We attended what I felt was one of the best Decorex trade shows for several years at Syon Park, really inspiring and lots of beautiful colours and textures with a gentle nod to old artisan craftmanship making a come back, watch this space for how we incorporate these into a schemes for 2019! We're lucky that we will be working on a gorgeous Penthouse in Cadogan Square, London and a unique and breathtaking Grade I listed Jacobean home in Hurstpierpoint, we love the diversity of the range and style of properties we get to work on and repeat business...love what you do!

August has simply come and gone, not sure how or when but we appear to be days from September!

On an exciting note we were shortlisted for a further two International Design Excellence Awards through our professional body the Society of British Interior Designers (SBID), so we’re up against some tough international competition. We would love your vote in both categories and it takes seconds to do, vote here for our "KKB nomination", and here for our "Show Flats & Developments Design" nomination. Thank you!

Our August month is generally quieter with clients being overseas so we take time to drop to 4th gear which is a welcome shift. We’re pushing on and into decoration phase of our Georgian Townhouse.

We’ve been overwhelmed with project enquiries this month, feeling very blessed! We had a fabulous few days sourcing too so a few inspirational finds.

We’re on the final leg of our Esher project and the last couple of shots in the August Journal gallery show a sneak peak before we shoot in September.

As ever ending on a personal note, today (24/08/18) was an epic and landmark day for the incredible human being and team behind the vet Marc Abraham who after a long 9 year campaign has successfully ended 3rd party selling of dogs and cats through breeders and it will almost certainly put an end to the horrors of licenced puppy farming! I’m so proud of his continued and selfless fight throughout so many barriers - to have this announced by Michael Gove at No.10 Downing Street is nothing short of a miracle for our beloved pets and safeguards their future and health from 1st October and all thanks to Marc and the team behind Lucy’s Law. We’re are proud supporters and sponsors of PupAid 2018 - come and say hi on Saturday 1st September on Primrose Hill. You can add your name to a petition to formally recognise Marc Abraham for the Lucy's Law victory at change.org.

Well July has been a blur of details and full speed on projects with deliveries arriving in full force, details going into our bathrooms on our listed Georgian townhouse in West Sussex and a hand crafted timber heritage fan light above the entrance door which replicates what was originally in place but removed years ago, following archive research we’re thrilled with the results!

We’ve been full speed on a short turnaround project in Kemp Town, Brighton which has tested our trades in the piercing heat working in very confined spaces but we are very happy with the results and we hope the client will be when he returns from holiday next week, we’ve even managed a little bit more than the brief so a lovely surprise awaits him!

I also had the pleasure of revisiting one of my lovely projects in Hastings we are yet to shoot, so lovely returning and seeing the client on his summer visit from Moscow.

And finally we are nearing completion on this stunning monochrome kitchen which is a personal favourite of mine, details of black vertical cladding and rough sawn charred timber shelving to be completed but we are touching distance from the end.

And as ever on a personal note what an incredible month for the U.K. uniting in sport and remembering its about standing together, our boys did us proud and a whole new generation of football fans were born, an incredible month of celebration and sunshine!

What a glorious month we're having, the sunshine is infectious and has most definitely put a spring in our teams step!  And we’re utterly thrilled to announce we have been shortlisted for not 1 but 3 prestigious industry awards ‘International Design & Architecture Awards 2018’ for 3 separate projects. We're also delighted to have been appointed on two further projects one in Esher for a fabulous young family and a very cute little townhouse in the heart of Kemp Town, Brighton, always wonderful to be back in my old city.

We are excited to share images of our 3rd photo shoot too from our wonderful Kew project.  We spent a considerable amount of time getting the details and statement chandelier right for this beautiful Victorian home and the clients were delighted with the end result.  We particularly loved the pelican mural in the cinema room too, I mean who doesn't love a giant pelican!

We have also reconnected with two old clients who wish to have further work carried out, always a lovely testament to the strength of our client relationships.  We've been engrossed in a lot of administration over the past few weeks for large furniture orders, the work that clients don't get to see but very much is at the heart of what we do and requires meticulous attention to detail.

I did manage to sneak away twice which was a treat, both times to Marrakesh for a mix of sourcing and inspiration and some much needed down time and a digital detox, I can highly recommend also the most unexpected location of a small artisan store within the souks to watch the Royal Wedding, very memorable!

So as we gear up for a month of football, we will be very much flying the flag for England - well we at least remain hopeful (again).

We're not quite sure how we got to May already but we have. Another 5th gear month with two photo shoots we're excited to share with you, one from our stunning coastal Cornish Penthouse Apartment over looking Carlyon Bay and the other from one our favourite projects, a beautiful Grade 2 listed townhouse in Chichester. We continue to be excited by the freedom our fabulous clients allow us and the trust in our relationship and the different styles we get to play with, we don't see our job as work, sometimes challenging but we oh so love what we do. This month less words from me and more let the images speak.

On a final note we are very excited to announce the launch of our sister company LDY (LEIVARS Design Yard), set up to fully focus on our developer and investor, read our link in Services, we hope you like!

We love April, for many reasons, bursts of colour with spring flowers, warmer rays of sunshine with beautiful evening light and random heavy down pours of rain but most of all because it’s our founders birthday month and Rebecca really likes to celebrate her birthday!

Highlights this month (not getting older), revisiting our Sandbanks project on the most glorious of days for final accessorising and artwork, we can’t wait to shoot this project, the views are spectacular.

Sign off on Phase 1 and 2 of our Aberdeen project with an unexpected Phase 3 with several bathrooms, study and guest bedroom added. Our beautiful Hove Penthouse project comes to a head too, we’ve been busy. We love when clients add work on, always a testament we are doing something right!

Definitely the month to shoot projects with views! Even our beloved Design Assistant Harry is feeling the spring in his step and is enjoying distracting the studio team. And being a very patient boy during site meetings!

We’re at the stage where we have lovely details starting to appear for finishing on our Chichester project, pictured here are a framed glimpse of the gorgeous beams and the final finish going on the front door.

Finally on a personal note, being a team of dog lovers, seeing the momentum of #LucysLaw reach a stage where it will be heard in Parliament gives us a huge moral boost and everything crossed to end puppy farming! We as a company continue to support this amazing and epic campaign and salute the fab @PupAid and @marcthevet for their tremendous devotion to such an important cause and much needed change to dog welfare.

This month has seen a lot of travel and our team being slightly tested by the elements, we completed and dressed some fabulous penthouses in Carlyon Bay, Cornwall, a side to design you don’t get to see, a sea of boxes and unnecessary packaging, a lot of good will and humour needed! We had a group of roofers come to our rescue when our trusted trade hands couldn’t reach us due to the heavy snow...our client was thrilled with the result, as we were we with our celebratory cocktails!

We’ve also had the pleasure of working with two wonderful companies who actively employ ex service men and women with life changing injuries, we’ve been so impressed by the level of skill, speed and design detail that we much look forward to our working partnership continuing. LEIVARS are proud to support Pilgrim Bandits, a small charity set up by Special Forces veterans.

We’ve also been busy specifying 14 bathrooms, our studio became a sea of ceramics and tiles of every shape, colour and size, we can’t wait to share the results!

Finally what feels like an eternity of a lead time, our wonderful chairs have finally arrived! First eagle eyed at Decorex last September...we can’t get enough of these gin parlour chairs and that mustard velvet and brass detailing. Happy Spring!

A month of sunshine, snow and a lot of rain mixed with being geographically challenged between Cornwall, Aberdeen and London. Lots of interesting finds for us on our site in Chichester with multiple concealed fireplaces uncovered and original carpenter markings on historic beams which were stunning to witness, we're making them into a feature with a glass box covering for all to see and enjoy.

We've had fun with cutting tiles into chevron timber flooring too and we're thrilled with the results.  We've enjoyed frosty yet stunning Scottish site mornings to the soggy cobbled streets of Chichester to the windy coastal paths of Cornwall, here is a snap shot of our month...much more interesting than showing our trade show finds.  We're now very much heads down working on 24 room concepts with a vast amount of fabric to select and 7 bathrooms, we're going to be busy!

Finally, a small sneak peak of one of our recent projects we're about to shoot to add a little spring joy with beautiful pastel tones, enjoy!

January has kick started straight into 5th gear with two new projects starting, one magnificant 6 Bedroom Grade II listed house in glorious Chichester where we have the pleasure of full interior design and refurbishment and interior design of several penthouse apartments overlooking the breathtaking views of Carlyon Bay in Cornwall. Check back in early summer for updates on both.

As a few doors open, a few doors also close, always a tinge of sadness when we complete projects and hand keys back, we have just completed on a gorgeous farmhouse in Hastings, wonderful Georgian House also in Chichester and a fabulous Victorian House in Chiswick and we’re looking forward to sharing new portfolio images from the forthcoming photoshoots. We’ve also had a temporary studio move whilst we have building work carried out on our own studio.

We are also prepping for one of our favourite annual trade shows at the end of the month in Paris, Maison Objet, always exciting to find new and I nnovative suppliers, watch this space as we will share our finds in February. For now, wishing you all a very happy New Year to old friends and new!
